Shelling peas on the couch

The shelling peas are coming on strong so we picked a big bowlful to shell while watching Buffy. I use the shells to make stock in case we need to feed any vegetarians, and I blanched and then quick-cooled the peas right in the colander we shelled them into.
Does what it says on the tin.

Looks a lot like my home this weekend :-) Extra hands make shelling pounds and pounds of peas much more enjoyable. And the taste of them in the winter is precious. How does your freezer bag sealer work out? I have a handheld sealer, but am considering one like yours….
Sounds like a fun evening together! Of course I like snap peas so I don’t have to shell them, hehe.
I love the idea of veggie stock out of the shells. Alas, I don’t think peas will fit on my deck.
Arlie, if your deck is less than four square feet and entirely enclosed from the sun, you’re likely correct. However, my seed packet assures me that peas should be *thinned* to a 2″ spacing so I reckon even the smallest porch has room for peas.
Mangochild, the sealer is alright. Our friend Laura Hennery showed us a neat trick for bagging chickens by wrapping them in bags and submerging them that might work better, at least for meat birds. It’s one of those pesky time:money:results things that aren’t easy to calculate.
Sinfonian, no shelling peas? You’re missing out. :P
