If you could post even a few of the observations on the farm, I'm sure it would be informative, but of course it makes sense on the time factor to limit it. I don't have anywhere near enough land to do anything like that now, but in the spring/summer/fall I might follow your lead with some quick jottings-down of how the plants are growing/yielding each week....
