We got an email off a farming list the other day stating that a nearby greenhouse owner was moving and she was having a greenhouse sale of all the now-superfluous equipment. So I fired the truck up and went to see if I could find a bargain. I managed to pick up:
- A 55-gallon compost tumbler
- A smallish garden cart
- Six greenhouse table tops
- 12 brackets for building tables from 2x4s
- A hula hoe
- 12 large seed-starting trays
- Six tomato cages
- A mess of domes
- A billion seed flats
- A mess of small seed-starting trays
All for the princely sum of $87. I am awfully pleased with myself. In the spirit of giving back to the gardening , I offer up the following jpg.

Sources close to the Obama administration assure me that this is Tom Vilsack's own farm in Iowa.
What a great find! Score! At first I thought you bought the entire greenhouse, hehe. That would have been an interesting move.
Seed starting trays, something I’ve got to locate to use with my seed starting system I’m making. Guess I’ve got a reason to head to Sky or Emmery’s. hehe
Ah, the humor in that pic, too bad it’s such a bad situation with Vilsack’s ties to Monsanto. Grrr. At least I know one of our Senator’s got my email asking them not to confirm him. /sigh
Wow. Good shopping. So *that’s* what it’s called…a hula hoe.
Good deal! Really good, especially all the seed starting trays and the flats :-) The mailing lists and alerts can certainly pay off sometimes.
Having priced out some flats for my seed starting system, I think it’s fair to say that nearly each of those items could be bought for $87. For all of it, it is more than a steal! Way to go!
